Durak rules in the prototype.

This describes the variant implemented in the current local iPhone app sources. House rules may differ. There is no public app or online play yet.

Deck and first attack

The deck has 36 cards: six through ace in four suits. Ranks ascend as 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, jack, queen, king, ace. Each participant receives six cards. The suit of the exposed bottom card is trump. The player holding the lowest trump in the initial hands attacks first; if nobody has a trump, the first seat starts.

Attack and defense

The first attack can use any card in the attacker’s hand. The defender beats it with a higher card of the same suit or a trump. A trump can only be beaten by a higher trump. For example, a queen of hearts beats a nine of hearts; any trump beats a non-trump card.

Throwing in and the limit

After defense, additional attack cards must match a rank already on the table, in attack or defense. After a 9 and Q pair, nines and queens are eligible. The number of attacking cards is limited to the defender’s hand size at the start of the round, up to six. This variant has no separate five-card limit for the first round. In throwing-in mode, cards are attacked and defended one at a time.

Transfer mode

Before starting defense, the defender may add a card matching the rank of every attacking card and transfer the attack to the next participant. In a duel, the roles swap. The total attack after a transfer cannot exceed the new defender’s hand size or six. Transfer is unavailable after the first defense. This mode is implemented in the local prototype.

Taking or completing defense

If defense is unsuitable, Take moves all table cards into the defender’s hand and ends the round immediately. No more cards are thrown in after taking. If all attacks are beaten and throwing in is complete, the table cards are discarded. A successful defender attacks next; a player who takes skips the next attack. In a duel, the previous attacker attacks again after a take.

Replenishment and results

After a round, players draw up to six cards while the deck lasts: the attacker draws first and the defender last. Once the deck is empty, the aim is to shed the remaining cards. Results are decided only after the table is resolved. The last participant holding cards loses; if both duel players finish simultaneously, the result is a draw.

Implemented modes

Throwing-in and transfer Durak are available in the local offline duel. Debug builds also have a developer test table with 2–5 participants: one human and 1–4 computer opponents. It is a development tool, without a purchase or multiseat license grant. Mixed online rooms, friend invitations, pairs and world games are not ready; the world-game catalog is undecided.

Checked against the current game engines and the build 10 report dated October 9, 2026. This page does not add modes to the app.
